The Best At Home Beauty Solutions That Won’t Break the Bank

What if you could achieve the benefits of a professional skin care treatment at home for a fraction of what it costs to visit an Esthetician or Dermatologist? Well, prepare to cancel your next appointment, because now you can!

There has been a significant increase in the number of women looking for affordable at home anti-aging alternatives to expensive professional treatments. Today, advances in at-home skincare treatments are making this prospect more and more possible by giving consumers never before affordable options for looking and feeling beautiful from the comforts of your own home.

One of the most popular recently requested cosmetic procedures today is called the Ultrasonic Facial. This high tech treatment uses high level sound wave technology to penetrate deep below the surface of the skin toning muscles, promoting cellular renewal and repair, combating puffiness and swelling, increasing blood circulation, encouraging lymphatic drainage and greatly improving the penetration of skin care products.

An Ultrasonic Facial is performed by an Esthetician in a spa and can cost anywhere from $200-$250 a pop. It requires at least 4-5 treatments before being able to see any visible results. This can add up to a wopping $1,000 and more over time.

If you desire similar results at home, I highly recommend the Genius Ultra, a hand held mechanism that uses the same ultrasound wave technology as in a spa, but for a fraction of the price. The Genius Ultra is recommended and designed to be used in conjunction with Arbonne’s RE9 Advanced Lifting and Contouring Cream and Intensive Renewal Serum for anyone looking to reduce the signs of aging and achieve fresh glowing skin.

Another procedure that has become more and more popular over the last several years is Botox. Botox is a treatment in which injections of a drug prepared from the bacteria toxin botulin are made into the skin to decrease the appearance of expression lines and crows feet by temporarily paralyzing the muscle. Not only is a needle involved in this procedure, which can be very intimidating, but it also comes with a hefty price of roughly $500 or more per session.

One low cost at-home Botox alternative treatment comes in the form of the RE9 Advanced Instant Lift Gel which helps reduce the appearance of those annoying lines caused by everyday facial expressions like frowning and smiling. Key ingredients in this advanced formula work immediately to make skin feel firm and look lifted. You’ll be happy to note that there are no sharp objects involved in this treatment as it’s a gel that can be used under your make-up, as well as in the morning and night. With a modest retail price of only $48.00 (before possible discounts) it’s much lighter on the wallet and on the skin.

The How To’s of Foundation

Warning: mysql_num_fields() expects parameter 1 to be resource, boolean given in /home/muc17/public_html/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 3083

The purpose of foundation is to create a blank canvas on the face for color make-up products to be added, such as eye shadow, blush and lipstick. Foundation is also the setting agent for these products. The foundation becomes a barrier between the color make-up and the skin’s own natural oils, which would dissolve the color make-up otherwise. Because foundation covers the entire surface area of the face, blending the foundation seamlessly with the skin’s own natural color and tone is essential.

Choosing the Right Foundation for Your Skin Type:

Before buying a new foundation product there are two areas of concern that need to be addressed first. The foundation should complement your skin type, as well as match your skin’s natural color and tone.

Oily Skin:

Oily skin is prone to shine, therefore, an oil-free formulated foundation is best. Oil-free foundation helps to keep the production of excess oil under control and should also contain extra powder particles meant to absorb any oil that is produced.

Normal Skin:

Normal skin can use any formulated foundation, however, a liquid foundation will provide you with better coverage without looking cakey or heavy.

Dry skin:

Dry skin needs cream or liquid formulated foundation as they provide the skin with the extra moisture it needs to keep it looking moist and supple. Cream or liquid foundation will also help prevent the skin from absorbing the make-up so the skin stays hydrated and the make-up will last longer.

Foundation Color and Tone:

The best time to purchase a new foundation color is when your skin’s color is at it’s most natural shade. So, the best time would not be after returning from a vacation or following a self tanning application. In addition, the best area of the face to test out a new foundation color is on the jaw line, blending downward toward the neck.

Foundation colors fall into 2 categories:

Foundation bases with yellow tones and foundation bases with pink tones.

The most common skin types with a yellow tone are Asian, sallow and black skin. Fair skin generally has a pink tone. It is very important to choose a foundation that matches your skin’s color and tone or the foundation will not blend no matter how well you apply it.

Applying Foundation:

Oily Skin:

For oily skin, oil-free formulated foundations are best. The application of oil-free foundation needs to be done fast, as it will dry quickly. Using the application tool of your liking (sponge, foundation brush or clean fingers) apply a small amount to the areas most in need of coverage first, then,  cover each area one at a time until the entire face is covered.

Normal Skin:

For Normal skin there are several choices which include powder, cream-to-powder or liquid formulated foundation. Powder or mineral foundation should be applied with a large powder brush. Powder or Mineral foundation will not provide you with the same level of coverage as a cream-to-powder or liquid foundation will, but it’s a very good option for those pressed for time. Cream-to-powder foundation should be applied with a sponge, starting in the center of the face and working your way outwards. Liquid foundation is best applied with a foundation brush as it looks the most natural. Again, start in the middle of the face and working outwards. Make sure to use less foundation around the eye area and concentrate on blending well around the hairline and jawline.

Dry Skin:

For dry skin, cream or liquid formulated foundations are best, as they move around the face with little effort and without having to use too much. Because dry skin tends to have fewer blemishes, you may only need to focus on applying to the areas that actually need the coverage and leave the clear areas alone. This is why purchasing the right foundation color and tone is so important.

The 6 Best Beauty Tips for Looking and Feeling Younger

Warning: mysql_num_fields() expects parameter 1 to be resource, boolean given in /home/muc17/public_html/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 3083

The human race has been obsessed with beauty ever since Eve took the proverbial first bite into that delicious apple. What most people don’t realize though, is that the inevitable aging process actually begins the minute we’re born! Our bodies regenerate by sloughing off new cells daily and the speed in which the aging process occurs when we’re young drastically changes as we become older. As a result, we’re bombarded with commercial messages that try to convince us that the latest product or drug can miraculously stop it.

People are living longer and depending on how you choose to perceive it, this can be considered a blessing or a curse. Therefore, the best way to maintain healthy skin and natural beauty is to take care of it! Sounds pretty easy, doesn’t it? Well, it’s not exactly that simple. A major factor in this equation that we need to consider can also be the result of the environment, which causes our skin to take quite a beating day in and day out.

That being said, I have put together a list of my six best beauty tips to look younger, despite the elements and feel younger, despite your age:

1. Keep your body hydrated and your skin moist from the inside out by drinking plenty of water; at least eight eight ounce glasses a day (64 ounces). This amount of fluid does not include coffee, tea and soda, both regular and diet. Caffeine beverages have a high concentration of sodium and sodium actually makes the body retain fluid. You need to drink the only fluid that will hydrate and flush your body of toxins…H2O!

2.  We all love being in the sun and working on our tan. However, protecting your skin from the sun’s harmful ultra violet rays is a must! The reality is that you can literally poison yourself with overexposure to the beautiful sunshine. Ultra violet rays cause skin cancer, and as if that isn’t bad enough, it also causes the skin’s aging process to accelerate, further contributing to those unsightly wrinkles we’re all bound to endure. The solution…of course, the best solution to ward off wrinkles is to never be in the sun, however, that’s not at all realistic. So please, try your best to stay in the shade when possible, but if you must be in the sun, make sure you don’t leave home without bringing adequate protection with you such as sunglasses, hats and most important…sun screen!

3. Cleanse your skin daily with a gentle cleanser and soft warm cloth. The skin is a delicate organ that DOES NOT require harsh scrubbing. Harsh scrubbing can actually be the cause of more harm than good.

4: Maintain proper nutrition by eating healthy. Knowing what to eat and how to eat can make a significant difference in how you look and feel. Poor eating habits is the cause of weight gain, which in turn, causes your skin to stretch. As you get older, your skin loses it’s elasticity and you’re left with sagging skin. The solution…maintain a proper weight by eating healthy! A good rule of thumb: burn more calories than you consume by doing something physical for a minimum of 30 minutes per day. This can include anything from 3 ten minute walks, 30 minutes of vigorous aerobics or 12 minutes of weight lifting and 18 minutes of walking…whatever you choose, just keep moving!

5: Reduce your stress and worry by focusing your mind on what you can do to be happy in the moment! Maintaining a more positive outlook triggers the body to release Endorphins. Endorphins are the bodies natural chemicals that when released relax the cardiovascular system and cytokines, secretions produced by the bodies immune system cells which are responsible for alerting our bodies to detect abnormalities such as cancer cells. The solution…Listen to yourself! Do you frequently find yourself putting yourself down? If so, you’ve probably been doing it since you were a child. Over a lifetime, negative self talk causes subliminal messages to the brain causing a person to become a pessimist. Write down the things you say to yourself for a week and chances are you will find that you repeat negative phrases over and over again to yourself that only reinforce a negative self image; fortunately, it’s reversible. It’s never too late to change how you perceive yourself and others.

6: Have sex! Granted, in the past, a large number of men simply gave up on the notion of having sex after the age of 60 and many women also felt that their sex life simply ended after menopause. However, this is no longer the case. In fact, at middle age, sex can be more satisfying and better than ever before. Maturity gives way to more experience when it comes to the bedroom. The pressures of day to day life, like building a career and raising children, are far less than in younger years.

In my opinion, true beauty can only be achieved when your outer beauty and inner happiness are in sync, as one can never really be achieved without the other. So, in an effort to help you increase your optimism, hope and joy, I have put together a few quick inner beauty tips that have been scientifically proven to work at any age:

Laugh as much as possible! Laughter can heal both your mind and body.

Meditate for 5-20 minutes every day.

Make a list of all the good things that happen to you on a daily basis.

Set small attainable goals and create new challenges for yourself to work toward each month.

Still the question remains…is beauty really only skin deep? The answer is indeed a true paradox because it is both yes and no. I wish I could tell you there was a way to magically regain the baby soft and healthy skin we had as a child, but until someone finds a real “Fountain of Youth”, one that can truly stop the aging process, I guess we’re left with the skin we’re in…oh, and the tried and true…good old Vitamin C!

If you remember nothing else, please remember this…getting older does not have to mean your getting old!

An Inside Look at Permanent Makeup

Let’s face it, there’s never enough time in the day to get all the things we want to accomplish done. We are always looking for ways to do more in less time. For women, applying makeup daily is one of those time-consuming activities we try to our best to cut done on. Well ladies, were there’s a will, there’s a way and the solution is permanent makeup!

Permanent makeup has become quite popular nowadays. It can be a wonderful choice for busy women with limited time each day, are allergic to cosmetic products, play sports or just want to spend less time and money on the whole process in general.

Permanent makeup, also know as, cosmetic tattooing or micro pigmentation is the process of applying dies under the skin to give the illusion of wearing lip liner, lipstick, eyeliner and eyebrow pencil. A very natural look can be achieved if done correctly by a skilled professional or cosmetic tattoo artist.

As with any permanent procedure there are always a few things you should know before having this procedure done. When choosing whether or not permanent makeup is the right choice for you I advise you do your due diligence and look into all of your options. Although there are several advantages there are also some disadvantages to take into consideration as well.

Of course, the biggest advantage to permanent makeup is definitely the issue of time. Not having to apply your makeup daily is a real time saver in my book.  If you decide to go ahead and have permanent makeup applied there are several types to choose from as well. You can have permanent eyebrow liner applied to help with sparse eyebrows, you can have permanent eyeliner applied to help your eyelashes look thicker and you can even have permanent lip liner or lipstick applied so you never have to worry about pale lips again. Keep in mind, that only one color can be applied to the skin, therefore, you will be limited to that color and will not be able to choose from different shades as you would with regular cosmetics. Another great choice is dying your lashes. This is an excellent alternative to mascara for those who have a shaky hand or allergies and is a wonderful option for women athletes and those who suffer from nearsightedness.

The biggest disadvantage of permanent makeup, as with any type of surgical procedure you opt for, is that there are always some risk factors involved. The inks and dyes that are used when applying permanent makeup are color additives that have not yet been approved for use as permanent makeup. Currently, the FDA is in the process of evaluating the safety of having permanent makeup applied. Their biggest concern is the use of non sterile equipment that can transmit diseases, therefore, all equipment must be properly cleaned and sanitized. Lastly, as with any tattoo, permanent makeup can not be easily removed and in some cases permanent discoloration can occur.

Always verify the credentials of the professional or artist you wish to use and consult with your doctor before you have this or any permanent procedure done.

Hide Imperfections With Camouflage Make-Up

Camouflage is defined as a means of disguising things completely so they appear a natural part of the surroundings. This holds true for the advanced camouflage make-up available today that conceals major to minor skin imperfections with precision and a perfectly natural look. This new technology offers the convenience of a cover-up formula that works for both the face and body without the need of a setting powder.

Application techniques have also become more client friendly to accommodate those women and men who may not wear conventional make-up, but need to cover unsightly skin flaws.

Camouflage cosmetics should possess the following 13 qualities:

* Clinically Proven and Tested

* Hypo-Allergenic

* Non-Comedogenic

* Fragrance Free

* Non-Transparent Coverage

* Long Lasting

* Waterproof

* Smudgeproof

* Non-Greasy

* Good For All Skin Types

* Come In A Variety of Natural Shades

* Easy to Apply

* Blendable

In today’s society, where outward image and appearance are increasingly important, camouflaging is gaining speed as the practical solution. “Cosmetic cover-ups are desirable options for eliminating some of the emotional issues that can be caused by skin disorders, says Dr. Steven Shapiro, a Board Certified Dermatologist from Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Dr. Shapiro supports the fact that new age concealers have become uncomplicated and satisfy his multi-generational patients.

Camouflage make-up helps people help themselves. Skin problems can range from pigment issues to diseases of the skin, as well as post operative trauma. The camouflage material must be versatile enough to mask most skin imperfections, including but not limited to, birthmarks, post laser redness, surgical discolorations, chemical peels, bruising, hypo and hyper pigmentation, vitiligo, rosacea, lupus marks, melasma, dark eye circles, broken capillaries, cleft and cranio-facial conditions, acne blemishes, psoriasis, sun spots, age spots and brown spots, varicose and spider veins, surface scars, uneven skin tone, fine lines and wrinkles, furrows, freckles and tattoos.

With the increased use of camouflage make-up to hide skin flaws, new application techniques have been developed by Make-Up Artists and Estheticians, like myself, to provide the most optimal results for their clients.

Camouflage Make-Up Application Techniques:

* Corrective cosmetic products can be worn under make-up, over make-up or alone.

* For best results choose a camouflage make-up shade that closely matches your skin tone. Match the area that is being covered since the skin on your hand may be a different shade than your face.

* Use a light, non-greasy primer before applying camouflage make-up products. This primer will help prepare the skin for a smoother application.

* Camouflage make-up is not transparent and should be applied gradually until complete coverage is achieved. Allow time for the make-up to dry completely.

* Blending is the KEY to success in camouflaging large areas. For a nice smooth finish, apply the cover-up and use a dry, wedge-shaped sponge to evenly blend the make-up over the face and neck. For targeted areas, such as scars and blemishes, use fingertips to blend the edges.

* Camouflage products are much more than just ordinary foundations and concealers. They can be used daily as a foundation for uneven skin tones and to soften redness associated with skin disorders like rosacea.

* For scarred areas, use a camouflage cream slightly darker than your skin tone since scar tissue usually has a loss of pigment.

* For post surgery, use a camouflage concealer that is creamy in texture so it won’t pull on the skin during when applying.

* It is recommended that cosmetic surgery patients purchase their camouflage make-up before surgery, in their correct shade, since it can be difficult to shop post op.

* After procedures around the eyes, it may be simpler for the patient to use a highly pigmented cover-stick with a creamy consistency to get into corners and avoid tugging on the delicate eye area.

* Caution – Camouflage cosmetics should never be applied to raw irritated skin or open skin lesions. Seek the advice of a physician if you are in doubt about when it is appropriate to apply these products.

Detailed instructions should accompany corrective cosmetics products so that patients can master the cover-up applications that best suits their needs. The instructions should be short, simple and easy to follow at home. Ideally, support services should be provided on a dedicated website or a toll free number.

An Inside Look at Airbrush Makeup

Warning: mysql_num_fields() expects parameter 1 to be resource, boolean given in /home/muc17/public_html/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 3083

Airbrush For Professional Make UpEver watch celebrities on TV and wonder how their makeup always looks so even and flawless? What’s their secret?Airbrush Makeup! Airbrush makeup creates the same look you would receive if you took a photo of yourself and ran it through a picture editing software like Photoshop. Celebrities like, Jennifer Aniston and Catherine Zeta-Jones, have been getting their makeup airbrushed by professional Makeup Artists for years. Granted, you can have your makeup airbrushed by a professional Makeup Artist as well, for a pretty hefty price, but you don’t have to! Now you can achieve the same flawless results, day after day, by doing it yourself from the comforts of your own home!

How you ask? Great question! Airbrush brand cosmetic companies are now making much smaller, user friendly, compressors made specifically for home or travel. Now anyone can purchase a very easy to use starter kit for an initial investment of anywhere from $120 to $600. Once your kit has been purchased, the only other additional cost is for the designated airbrush makeup products, which can range anywhere from $10-$20 each.

Applying airbrush makeup is actually quite easy and the result is full yet sheer coverage. You end up wearing less foundation than you would with regular foundation with a much more flawless result that can even hide skin conditions from redness to dark under eye circles.

Airbrush Equipment and Tools for At-Home Use:

Compact Size Airbrush Compressor

Airbrush Wand/Pen

Hose (needed to connects the airbrush wand/pen to the compressor)

Airbrush Foundation and/or Color Makeup Products

How to Apply Airbrush Makeup Foundation:

1. Place a few drops of airbrush makeup product into the reservoir cup of the airbrush wand/pen with a few drops of water. (Each airbrush brand company will have their own instructions on how many drops of each to use.)

2. Hold the airbrush wand/pen 6 to 10 inches from your face and gently spray the mixture in a circular motion over your entire face and neck. Do not hold the airbrush in one place for too long or you will end up depositing too much of the product in one spot so make sure to always keep the wand/pen moving. Try your best not to spray the product into your eyes by keeping your eyes closed if possible.

3. Let dry. If you feel you need more coverage, a second coat may be applied. After the second coat is dry, you’re done! No finishing or setting powder is necessary.

What Kind of Airbrush Makeup Foundation Is Best to Buy:

Airbrush makeup foundations come in two types, water and silicone based. I recommend silicone- based products because they tend to create a slightly more flawless look. Please keep in mind that you MUST use dedicated airbrush makeup products only. You CAN NOT use regular foundation and another other makeup product in these airbrush machines.

Cruelty-Free Airbrush Brand Cosmetic Companies:

There are many airbrush brand cosmetic companies that do not test their makeup products on animals. Among the top cruelty-free airbrush brands are Dinair Airbrush Makeup, Luminess and OCC.

Color Airbrush Makeup Products:

You can also purchase other airbrush-ready makeup products, such as blush and eye shadow . For some companies, it may require the additional purchase of a special nozzle for your wand/pen as well. However, Once your airbrush foundation makeup is dry, there’s no problem using regular powder blush and eye shadow products if you prefer.

Advantages of Airbrush Makeup:

Long Lasting – Once airbrushed, you makeup will last at least 10-20 hours, with an average of around 16 hours. It will not rub off or disappear into your pores.

More Sanitary – The airbrush system is extremely sanitary. If you are sharing makeup for any reason, like a wedding for example, there is no need for concern. The airbrush wand/pen never touches the skin like regular makeup product applicators and brushes do.

Covers Larger Areas – Some of the airbrush makeup kits and products that are sold can also be used to cover various other areas of the body with issues of concern, like varicose veins on your legs.

Special Effects Made Easy – Stencil tattoos and other special effects can be created and applied easily

Disadvantages of Airbrush Makeup:

More Expensive – Airbrush Equipment and Makeup Products can be expensive at first.

More Requirements  – Applying the airbrush makeup requires water, equipment, a power source and plenty of space.

Time Consuming – Applying airbrush makeup can take more time than if it was being done with regular makeup products and applied the conventional way.

More Difficult to Apply  – Applying it on yourself and alone can be difficult because your eyes need to be closed to ensure you do not get the product into your eyes.

Less Convenient – You can’t bring airbrush makeup with you by throwing it into your purse like you can with regular types of foundation and makeup products.

Use Caution When Inhaling – You may want to consider using a face mask if you use airbrush makeup often because there is still no definitive information on how much of the product actually gets into your lungs.

However, despite the disadvantages, the ultra even and flawless look that airbrush makeup provides is still quite appealing. I highly recommend giving airbrush makeup a try!

Lipstick 101

In all it’s well deserved glory, lipstick has been around for over 5,000 years. It’s the simplest way to provide a focal point to your face and an instant splash of color. There is one problem though…there is no one perfect color to suit everyone. There’s never a perfect brand, formula or shade, but there are guidelines that can help you express your personality and mood and assist you in choosing the lipstick that is right for you!

  1. Matte lipsticks – Matte lipsticks are formulated to last longer than any other and are a great choice to make a bold statement with. The only problem with this type of lipstick is that it can dry out the lips pretty quickly and should really not be worn if you are prone to having dry chapped lips.
  2. Shimmer lipsticks – Shimmer lipstick is formulated to last longer than sheer lipsticks and flatters users of all ages, unlike shimmery eye shadow and blush. Due to it’s light reflecting qualities, lips tend to look fuller but will look awful on excessively dry chapped lips.
  3. Sheer lipsticks – Sheer lipsticks are formulated to be more flattering and universal than lipsticks that are not transparent because they allow your own lip color to be seen underneath. Sheer lipstick does not last as long as other formulas, but are easy to wear and very moisturizing.
  4. Cream lipsticks – Cream lipsticks are formulated to be the happy medium because they are less transparent than sheer lipstick, But bear in mind that you will have to use your better judgement when choosing your colors though.

Lipstick Color Guidelines

For people with fair skin, a little bit of color goes a long way! Bright colors will not compliment this skin tone so stick to nude and beige tones, light pinks and light corals. Sheer formulations will prove to be the most flattering for this skin type.

Medium complexions are best suited for sheer berry colors or brown based mauve colors in a cream formula.

Reds, with gold undertones rather than blue, are the most suited colors for people with light complexions, as well as pink shimmer formulas.

For darker complexions, rich bold colors such as plum, burgundy and chocolate will prove to be the most complimentary.

Choosing a Lipstick Color

There are quite a bit of traditional “rules” that were meant to aide in the selection of lipstick color. Some say rich, deep colors such as burgundy, plum and red should only be worn in the fall and winter and lighter, more pastel tones, such as pinks, lavenders and corals should only be worn in the spring and summer. Summer months require the need for sheer or glossy formulas and fall is the time for more earthy matte tones. With that said, lipsticks are used as an expression of who you are as an individual so go ahead and experiment with any color and formula that looks and feels right on you whatever the season.

Applying Your Lipstick

Use a moisturizer on your lips before applying your lipstick to achieve the best result. The lip surface should then be well primed with foundation using a make-up sponge.

Then apply a light dusting of powder on top of the foundation to set. This will help your lipstick stay on and last longer.

If you choose, begin by using a neutral lip primer to draw an outline to your lips before applying your lip stick This method is designed to help prevent your lipstick from “bleeding.”  For a darker matte effect apply the lip liner to the entire lip area. Bear in mind that if you choose to use this method you may need to apply a lip moisturizer on top to avoid drying your lips out.

Begin by first warming the lip liner pencil slightly in the palm of your hand. You may also find that resting your elbow on a flat firm surface helps to steady your hand when doing this.

Start drawing an outline around your lips using a colored or nude lip liner pencil that compliments the shade of lipstick your choosing to wear. The Cupid’s bow on the upper lip should be your starting point when drawing your lip outline. Finish off the edges of the outline on your upper lip then follow by neatly outlining your lower lip.

For a darker matte effect apply the lip liner to the entire lip area. Bear in mind that if you choose to use this method you may need to apply a lip moisturizer on top to avoid drying your lips out.

Then using a lip brush for accuracy, fill in the outlined areas with lipstick, making sure that the entire area is covered. Open your mouth and brush the color into the corners of your lips as well.

To give your lips an attractive semi-matte finish, as well as help your lipstick to last longer gently blot your lips with a tissue.

Lipstick Tips and Tricks

If there’s a difference in volume or proportion to your lips, then chances are the upper lip will appear thinner than the lower. The lower lip is generally the point of reference when making sure the contour of both lips is balanced. If the lips are not in proportion then lining the upper lip to match will most likely need to be done. That being said, when you line the upper lip, make sure it’s equals in proportion from the pointed side of the Cupid’s bow to the center of the mouth, thus matching the width of the bottom lip.

In addition, the shape you give your Cupid’s bow is what expresses your personality or mood at the time. A pointed angular shape displays an outgoing and confident personality while a rounder shape gives a fuller smile and displays a more sensual personality.

How to Stop Your Cosmetics From Causing More Harm Than Good

We all know women use cosmetics, but did you know that men use cosmetics as well? Granted, women wear more color cosmetics then men do, but many men use skincare products such as, moisturizers, after shave, lotions and creams, which are all considered cosmetics…and why not? We all want to stay young looking and look our best. Unfortunately, it is possible for some of the ingredients in the cosmetics we use to cause skin irritations that can take quite a while to go away, even after treatment, so it’s probably best to know about these possibilities before they happens to you.

Are your cosmetic products causing you more harm than good?

Makeup and Skincare products can cause 2 types of skin issues: Irritant and Allergic Contact Dermatitis. With Irritant Contact Dermatitis, the skin inflammation is caused only by contact with a specific ingredient. For instance, if your skin is damaged by touching a chemical like alkali for instance, that is Irritant Contact Dermatitis. Fortunately, there are no makeup or skincare products that contain this harmful ingredient, but even a less harmful ingredient like water, can cause Irritant Contact Dermatitis for some people if they come into contact with an ingredient over a prolonged period of time. With Allergic Contact Dermatitis, you actually get an allergic reaction the moment you come into contact with a particular ingredient. Why you develop the allergy versus someone else is unknown.

There can also be issue with something called “photo toxic material.” If you apply a product and stay out of the sun your fine, but as soon as the material within the product you applied comes into contact with the sun it causes a photo toxic reaction. This is not common occurrence, however, there are some products such as, essential oils that are derived from the lime family, that can cause this type of reaction.

How do you decide which cosmetic products are right for you?

First and foremost, always read the ingredients label before you purchase any new cosmetic product. That way you can stay away from products you may already know your sensitive or allergic to. Once you do decide on a particular product you should always perform a test. Apply a small amount of the product on your wrist and watch for a possible reaction for the next 24 hrs. Only purchase products that are labeled hypoallergenic and noncomedogenic. Lastly, identify all of the ingredients you are concerned about and avoid coming into contact with any product that contains them. By avoiding these products all together you are essentially eliminating the possibility of experiencing a reaction in the first place.

Top Twelve Eye Shadow Tips

Your makeup is just as important to your finished look as the clothes you wear, in fact, sometimes it can be even more important. We’ve all seen women who don’t have a clue how to apply their eye shadow and we’ve also seen women who know exactly how to apply it and they look beautifully put together. Because I want you to be one of those women, I’ve decided to provide you with a list of twelve of my top eye shadow tips so you can do exactly that!

The good news is that putting on eye shadow correctly really isn’t that difficult at all. It’s really just a matter of finding the right technique to achieve the look that suits your personal style. Don’t be discouraged if it takes a few tries to get it right, practice makes perfect!

Check out my top twelve eye shadow tips:

  1. Always apply a base coat on your eyes just as you do to the rest of your face. Loose power works or you can apply your foundation to the eye area, this gives you a nice even palette to work with.
  2. Then, blend, blend, blend and when you think you’ve blended enough, blend some more. Try this: blend one eye and then just use a brush and apply the other eye. You’ll instantly know what I’m talking about and you’ll never forget to blend again.

Easy Makeup Application Tip for the Working Women

In this busy day in age working women are finding it more and more difficult to muster up the time to look their best yet, they still need to look professional and make-up definitely makes a difference. However, how do you find the time to cook breakfast, get your husband off to work, the kids off to school and/or daycare and apply your make-up? This is certainly not an easy feat to accomplish for most women. So, I’ve put together a beauty makeup tip that I believe will not only assist you in getting yourself ready, but still provide you with ability to juggle all the other things that demand your time from day to day.

To begin this beauty makeup tip you will only need to purchase these 5 cosmetic items: a good tinted moisturizer. The latest cosmetic advancements in tinted moisturizers include BB or CC Creams which combine a light layer of foundation coverage in various shades to match your skin color with a primer, moisturizer and sunscreen in one and I highly recommend them), concealer, eye shadow, blush and mascara…that’s it! No need to go over board on your makeup application regimen in the morning when you have to rush off to work.

Now, for the quick makeup application tip. First, apply the tinted moisturizer. The quickest way to apply this is to dot your forehead, chin, nose and cheeks first. Then, with the applicator of your liking (sponge, foundation brush or fingers), smooth the tinted moisturizer over the entire surface of your face until it is blended thoroughly and completely. Make sure to blend well near your hairline, chin and jaw line and always remember to smooth upward, rubbing downward will only help wrinkles find their way even faster.

The next step in your makeup application tip requires concealer and only one color eye shadow. Remember, you desire to look your best in the shortest amount of time. First, apply the concealer under your eyes to hide dark circles and other imperfections and then to the top of the eye lids as well. This will act as a primer by evening out the eyelid, as well as a base for your eye shadow. Follow by applying a small amount of eye shadow on the eyelid only, then dip the eye shadow applicator into a small amount of water to use the eye shadow as an eyeliner. Brush the applicator under your bottom eyelashes and add a small amount of mascara to your eyelashes to finish the look.

To complete your beauty makeup tip apply a bit of blush on your cheekbones and brush toward your ears then apply your lipstick and voila, your done and out the door in no time.

If you use this makeup application tip on the days your in a rush you should be able to completely apply all of your makeup in around five minutes. Now that’s one great time saving beauty makeup tip that I feel every busy woman should know about.
